How does the Purbanchal University BE entrance exam work? One examination, run centrally by the Faculty of Engineering, decides admission to every one of its constituent and affiliated engineering colleges. You apply online at entrance.puexam.edu.np, choosing the college and programme you want as you apply, and the faculty tells you which centre to sit at. In the 2083 cycle the paper ran on Saturday 15 August 2026 from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm at six centres. What is on the Purbanchal University BE entrance paper? One hundred marks of objective questions in two hours, split Mathematics 40, Physics 30, Chemistry 20 and English 10. The faculty publishes the full topic list for all four subjects in one seven-page document, and a model question paper beside it. Nothing it publishes states a negative-marking rule or a pass mark for the entrance itself.
Which colleges run Purbanchal University engineering degrees? The Nepal Engineering Council registers twenty: the university's own School of Engineering at Biratnagar and nineteen affiliated colleges, across seven districts. It is the largest engineering register of any university in Nepal after Tribhuvan, and also the most Kathmandu-centred, with twelve of the twenty in the Valley. The faculty's own list stops at eighteen, and the gap is a college it was examining candidates for.
How many BE seats does Purbanchal University have, and where are they? The Faculty of Engineering publishes a seat count for every programme at every college, totalling 2,498 seats across eighteen institutions. Civil Engineering is 1,356 of them, more than half. It is the most detailed seat data any non-IOE system in Nepal publishes, and the document carries no date of its own; its filename places it in July 2024, so it is at least one cycle old.
How does the Purbanchal University scholarship work for an engineering student?Ten per cent of the approved seats in every section, split five per cent on merit and five per cent reserved, awarded by the university rather than by the college. If you are applying to engineering you do not fill a second form or pay a second fee: your entrance application is your scholarship application. A reserved award is scored out of 100, and 65 of those marks come from things other than the entrance paper.
What happens if you miss the Purbanchal entrance, or want a different college? This university publishes something no other system in this library does: a written rule for a second entrance examination. If less than half the seats in a programme fill after the first round, the faculty may run a re-entrance, and the procedure says it should run within thirty days of the first admission deadline closing. A candidate who has passed may also take that result to a different college of the same faculty, if it has a vacant approved seat and agrees.
Purbanchal University and Pokhara University are both called PU. Which is which? Both. Two different universities abbreviate themselves PU in their own official documents, both award BE degrees, and they have no college in common. Purbanchal is headquartered at Gothgaun in Morang and runs one central entrance for its whole engineering faculty. Pokhara is headquartered in Kaski and runs no university-wide BE entrance at all, leaving it to each college.
